Perspective

I'd like to start by introducing you to my evolving perspective.  A picture is nice and adds a semblance of knowing, but it cannot capture the experience and the perspective of someone.

For me as a writer, I work to engage all forms of language whether written, artistic, performed, or shared.  All of these forms of language paint our stories as humans and as part of a chain of human civilization.

Some of my favorite elements include visual and audio forms of art and how those languages have created cultural fabrics that sustain us as we walk together.  You'll see that perspective in all of my writing as it pushes me to understand how to communicate with passion and responsibility.

One new thing that I'll be trying with One Honesty Merchant will be to incorporate real stories of individuals and their heritage in an honest dialogue of their challenges, connections, and hope.  My ideas include creating a character of the person in the story as well as supplementary conversations to heighten the OHM experience through podcasts or interviews.  It's all about perspective.

How it all happened.

The Story

The Beginning

Childhood

As a child writer, I wrote vignettes, poetry, a salutatorian speech, and even a soap opera.  I could see some impact which made me re-evaluate the purpose and meaning to others, the responsibility of my words.

Of course, I saw other writers of various ages and experiences writing meaningful and amazing works.  I always felt like what I had to say was just falling short: it needed more experience, more understanding.   Both work and spiritual lives needed to grow, to intertwine.

The Middle

Real Life 25-45

So, I took a detour and focused on finances in the non-profit sector, engaging so many walks of life and levels of being.  Twenty years in, something started to click.  I'd traveled the globe, witnessed the breadth of humanity, and felt its pressure and responsibility.  I had something to say, but could I get out from within the ever-turning wheel of work to write again?

The End?

45 till Whenever

Yes, I would write again.  I finally understood that I had experience and perspective that others might find helpful.  And the novellas started to flow.  Then, One Honesty Merchant was born, and there's no looking back.
